Nicola de Luca, PhD


Born in Palermo on Sep. 5th, 1975.

In 1998 Nicola graduated in law (110 points, cum laude and honors) at Luiss Guido Carli University of Rome, discussing a thesis on the privatization of the stock exchange, supervisors proff. Gustavo Visentini and Antonio Nuzzo. In 2004 he earned a Ph.D. from the University of Catania, discussing a thesis on the transfer of shares. In 2006 Nicola began the tenure track as an assistant professor in business law at the Second University of Naples (now the Vanvitelli University). He then became an associate professor in 2014 and since 2020 he serves as a full professor. Prof. de Luca qualifies as professor also in law and economics and comparative law. Trained in the law firm of his father Stefano, also a civil lawyer in Palermo, Nicola then specialized in business and company law at Sorci, Stagno d’Alcontres, Astone & Partners, also in Palermo, and later at Bussoletti, Nuzzo and Associati, in Rome, where he still cooperates as of counsel.

Full Professor of Company and Insurance Law at the Vanvitelli University (formerly the Second University of Naples), he also teaches European Business Law in English at Luiss Guido Carli University of Rome. Nicola has carried out research activity in prestigious foreign universities including Yale (USA), Heidelberg (DE), Salamanca (ES), Bielefeld (DE), MGU of Moscow (RU), and St. Gallen (CH). Admitted as an Abraham Lincoln candidate to the LLM in Corporation Law at NYU (USA), he was a visiting professor in Bielefeld (DE) and Warsaw (PL). During 2020 he was a senior visiting researcher at J.W. Goethe University Frankfurt-am-Main. Author of books, articles and case notes.
